I just read the new book about SIngapore's urban legends and myths. It's quite interesting, although misinformed in most parts. The book contains stories that people want to believe. Concocted tales that many will subscribe to in order to make sense of their surroundings. Well, I'm not trying to make sense of my surroundings but i sure would like to make sense about something we all know and familiar with - LOVE!
Even love has its urban legends and myths. Here are a few examples and I'll debunk each and every one of them for the benefit of all.
LOVE'S URBAN LEGEND/MYTH #1: Saying or messaging "I LOVE YOU" is a sure sign that everything is allright in the relationship.
TRUTH: You know how easy it is to say those three words these days?! Most people say it like a routine 'Hello' and 'Goodbye'. It doesn't hold much meaning anymore. So ur partner may say or sms you these three words, but in reality he/she is just going through the motion. Remember, ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS!
LOVE'S URBAN LEGEND/MYTH #2: Treating your partner right or pampering him/her or being nice and accomodating to his/her every whim and fancy, will definitely make your partner appreciate you.
TRUTH: These days doing all those things above doesn't guarantee you a lasting relationship. Most people tend to forget such stuff and if you try to remind them about what you have done for them, they will say that you are calculative and chances are he/she breaks the relationship. And in the end, your partner who just dumped you, will almost surely hook up with someone else who treat them like dirt. And THEY LOVE IT! It's a crazy world we live in....
LOVE'S URBAN LEGEND/MYTH #3: If your lover is always at work, there is a lesser chance for him/her to fool around.
TRUTH: Studies have shown that 80% of all affairs start at work. 'Nuff said!
LOVE'S URBAN LEGEND/MYTH #4: Believing this entry helps your love life.
TRUTH: What are you, NUTS ?! Take it with a pinch of salt pple!
